My Story

Why I do this work

4:24 a.m. — the night everything changed
4:24 a.m. — the night everything changed

4:24 in the morning — a time I have never forgotten. I had been organising an event and was utterly exhausted; for one moment behind the wheel my focus slipped, and the car was a total loss. It wasn't drink, it wasn't recklessness — just a young man who had pushed himself too far.

I survived. When I called my parents to say I was alive, my hands would not stop shaking. It felt like coming back from the dead — and from that moment I resolved never to drift through life again. Once I recovered, I put my head down and earned what was then the hardest qualification I could find: a Chartered Financial Planning diploma (UK).

From 2 cars to 36
From 2 cars to 36

But I didn't take an advisor's chair straight out of school. I built a business first — a car-rental company that grew from 2 vehicles to 36 in eighteen months. The cash flow, the pressure, the trade-offs an entrepreneur carries — I haven't heard about them; I've sat in that seat.

It was only when I set out to cut costs for my own company, and was introduced to sit for a licence, that I truly grasped the weight behind the words “financial planning.” So I walked in — entering the field in 2017, fully licensed in 2019, and here ever since.

The steady ground beneath a family
The steady ground beneath a family

What kept me here was my first client. He planned with me for four years; when the pandemic came he was let go by his Singapore employer, his bank account down to its last RM 1,400. The money he had set aside, little by little across those four years, became — in that hardest moment — the steady ground beneath his family. That was when I understood: planning can change the course of a person's life.

To me, wealth at its core is not the number in an account — it is optionality. When capital is planned well, it becomes security, freedom, protection for the family, and a starting point for the next generation.

There are also things I won't do. Clients chasing quick money, the restless, the wavering — I respectfully decline. What I value is someone who meets a hard problem and genuinely wants it solved: I give honest, independent judgement and a plan; if you choose not to listen I won't change my position — but as long as you don't let go, I will walk with you to the end.

On fees, I work primarily on advisory engagement fees (annual, half-year, or one-off, as needed); when a plan involves specific products, any commission is fully disclosed — so you always know how I am paid.

This is my story. Below are the real stories I've walked with my clients.
